When We Are Closed

out of hoursWhen the surgery is closed you can contact the out of hours service, on 111, where a doctor/health professional will be able to offer advice and arrange to see you if required, either at the out-of-hours centre within West Berkshire Community Hospital at Newbury, or in your own home if this is considered to be more appropriate.

Alternatively you can go to the SEQOL centre ajacent to the Great Western hospital where you can turn up without an appointment 7 days a week 365 days a year for non emergencies where you feel you cannot wait to see your own GP. Click here for further information.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

Newbury Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is reminding local people to choose the most appropriate health service this Easter and to plan ahead for repeat prescriptions. Ailments such as coughs, flu-like symptoms and upset stomachs can often be treated at home simply by having a well-stocked medicine cabinet. Local pharmacies can supply the right items and also provide expert advice on how to treat many common illnesses and injuries at home.

The Easter bank holiday weekend often marks a boom in DIY. Clinical Commissioning Groups are urging residents to take extra care when taking on those DIY tasks and, in the event of an injury, only to use A&E in a genuine emergency.

Daily A&E attendances at the Royal Berkshire Hospital now average over 300 people, up from 230 people per day five years ago. By choosing the right NHS service this Easter, patients will get the best treatment in the shortest possible time, and emergency services are kept free for those who need urgent care.

Here is a list of local pharmacies and their opening hours over Easter. This list is also available to download here.
