Appliance Management and Prescription Service
About the appliance management and prescription service
The Medicines Optimisation Team at Buckinghamshire Oxfordshire and Berkshire Integrated Board (BOB ICB) have commissioned a new service to oversee all aspects of your patients' stoma, urology, and trans anal irrigation product prescribing. This service has been set up specifically to enhance the care people using these products.
This change means that GP practices will no longer issue prescriptions for these appliances. This includes items such as catheters, stoma bags, base plates, adhesive remover, and other associated additional products (e.g., leg/night drainage bags and barrier spray).
Prescriptions for these products will be issued by the new BOB Appliance Management Prescription Service, which serves patients in Buckinghamshire Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West.
Practices will be informed of their individual Go-Live dates, and these will be staggered over the next couple of months to enable the service to onboard patients in a manageable way.
The service will be run by a dedicated team of specialist nurse prescribers and personal advisors to ensure continuity and quality of care.
